Winter is coming. . .


I LOVE cold weather. It has been chilly lately which is a nice change. This morning there was frost on the grass. However, I am struggling a little bit. Our grass is in now and just lovely. :-) It still needs some time to thicken up but it's so green and very exciting. A little part of me wishes I could fast forward to next summer when my boys will be running around together in the grass while I sit under our pergola at our cute little patio table reading and listening to my miniature men laugh and play together. I know I would miss so much if we could skip this upcoming season. I wouldn't skip it if I could. But I am very excited for next summer. 2009 will be a wonderful year and there will be a lot of super exciting things going on and new experiences and the 3rd birthday of my first born and the 1st birthday of my youngest. However, I MUST also live in the moment.

Speaking of THE moment. . . Gabriel is still working on the crawling. He's been all over our living room floor this evening but it's more of a inchworm move then a real crawl. I love watching him. he spots something across the floor and you can tell by the look in his eyes that he's found a new mission.

Liam has learned what his full name is. Now when you ask him his name he will most likely say, "Liam William David". It's so funny. Today I said, "Your name is 'William David Oldenkamp." He said, "No, name is William David not Oldenkamp." LOL He's also calling G-man 'Gabriel Asher' now.

BOY!! Liam is a big brother to a beautiful baby boy! Gabriel Asher was born at 8:55 PM on March 16th. He weighed 9lbs. 2.9oz and was 21 inches long. We were at church for a meeting with all the youth workers and after the meeting I (Kami) was having more intense contractions and just not feeling right. A mother of a couple of our high school girls offered to take me home with them and let me rest at their house while Dave stayed at church to run our Sunday night youth group. It wasn't long after arriving at their house that my water broke. I called for Dave to come pick me up and we headed to the hospital. It was slightly under 3 hours later that our little boy came into the world. It was quick and everything went smoothly. Gabriel got a 9 out of 10 on both his apgar tests which made us proud. A mother of 3 boys

I have to be honest in hopes that it will encourage you to pray for me. I now have a 5yo, 4yo and 2yo. I am over whelmed and had my first major break down today. I say "major" because I have actually had many breakdowns but this was the first with tears I just couldn't control. This is WAY harder then I thought it would be. Or maybe it's just that the "difficult things" I tried to prepare myself for aren't very tough at all. There are many things that I just wasn't prepared for and it's knocking me off my feet. The boys are acting like brothers. Yes, this sounds like a good thing. The issue? That means they fight. . . there's screaming, scratching, pushing and biting involved. It's not all the time but I have to watch them so things don't get out of hand. I have been so tired. I don't think it has anything to do with the jet lag anymore but more of just a physical issue I have struggled with since Gabriel was born 2 years ago. I a...

Stinky, Uncontrollable Moments

The boys and I were going to join Dave at Quest (middle school camp) in Olympia this weekend. Dave is the Quest director and although he'd be working and busy we were excited to be able to go and have a weekend away. So, why am I now sitting on my couch watching Ice Age with my family on Friday night instead of hanging out with middle schoolers at camp? Let me share the insane story with you. . .           We hit the road in our van and while driving over White Pass we had car trouble. . . bad enough that we couldn't drive the van any farther.           In the rain, Dave worked and worked to try and fix the belt that partially tore and then came off it's track. We didn't have cell service so we had no idea what to do.           Finally, a Good Samaritan stopped and offered us a ride to Naches (the closest town back towards Yakima). ...
