If you were wondering, we're WELL taken care of
Counting our blessing here in Yakima:
>When we arrived in Yakima we stayed with one of the adult high school volunteers and her husband for our first night until we could get the keys to our apartment.
>We had an elders wife offer to babysit the kids while we unloaded the moving truck.
>There was a large box in the foyer of the church with our name on it and it was filled with pantry items as well as a few gifts cards.
>We received an invitation from an elders family for lunch on our first Sunday here.
>We went to dinner at another elders home.
>One of the adult HS volunteers babysat for free one evening for us so we could have a date night.
>A young lady in the church committed to babysit once a week so I can attend youth group and her and another young lady are staying the weekend free of charge with the boys in a few weeks so I can go on a youth trip.
>An elder's wife is occasionally babysitting, praying for me and checking in regularly.
>Another elder's wife is taking me and the boys out to lunch this week while Dave's out of town and offering her husband's help if I have anything that needs fixings.
>A family in the church is having me and the boys over for dinner knowing Dave's gone.
>a high school guy is willing to babysit for free this week so I can get a couple hours to myself.
So, yes, we are welled loved and taken care of and we're so happy here.
A few other things. . .
We had a Senior pastor come and candidate and he and his wife accepted the call. They are visionary people with a passionate heart for missions and reaching the lost within our community for Christ. They had 18% conversion growth in their last church and were involved in missions and prison ministries. Cindy started an organization to feed children in Kenya. We CANNOT wait to team up with them and watch this valley be changed for HIS GLORY! They are working on selling their house so it may be a few weeks before they come but I'm so excited to get to know Cindy and learn from her heart. Dave is trying to contain himself and be patient. He's thrilled that he is going to get to work side by side with Kirk. It's going to be an awesome journey. We feel like this church is in a sling shot that is pulled and stretched as far as it can and we're on the verge of being let go. EXCITING!
